The Cactus group has announced that it is launching an initiative this World Cancer Day (4 February) to support its long-standing partner, Fondation Cancer, a Luxembourg-based non-profit association.
This initiative is aimed at both financially supporting Fondation Cancer in its multiple roles and educating consumers about the importance of eating five different fruits and vegetables every day.
A balanced diet plays an important role in the prevention of many diseases, including various cancers. As Lucienne Thommes, Director of Fondation Cancer, explained: “Prevention is the most promising and effective area in the fight against cancer. Everyone can give themselves the best possible chances against cancer by adopting a healthy lifestyle. And a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables is one of them".
For more than 25 years, Fondation Cancer Luxembourg has worked tirelessly in the fight against cancer. Alongside its commitment to prevention, screening and support for affected people, another of its missions is to improve the quality of life of patients and help their loved ones. The foundation's third vocation is funding cancer research projects.
World Cancer Day is held annually on 4 February and aims to raise awareness and mobilise funds to support research and accelerate medical advances.
As a long-time partner of Fondation Cancer and keen to promote a balanced diet, the Cactus group us actively participating in World Cancer Day. This year, Cactus has committed to donating €2.50 to the foundation for every customer who purchases at least five fruits or vegetables on this symbolic day.
With the same goal of raising awareness, Cactus has just announced its collaboration with Michelin-starred chef René Mathieu and, through this initiative, emphasises the importance of a healthy and varied diet for the health of all consumers.
