Husky Injection Molding Systems SA Luxembourg has raised €15,000 for SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, to support displaced children from northern Iraq.

Last Thursday, representatives of Husky IMS, which has been a partner of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde since 2007, handed over a cheque for €15,000 to the Luxembourg charity in favour of beneficiaries of the programme set up in camps for displaced people in Iraqi Kurdistan. Since 2018, the local SOS team has been supporting some 1,400 young people in the region, which has been hard hit by the COVID-19 health crisis and its consequences.

During a ceremony, the director of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, Sophie Glesener, presented the different components of this programme which focusses on mental health, psychosocial support and resilience as well as on the teaching recovery techniques created for young people who have had the traumatic experience of war. The programme was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and the measures taken by governments have had direct consequences on beneficiaries who are going through a particularly difficult period. While trying not to lose the achievements of the programme and continue the activities already planned, the local team has implemented additional measures, such as the distribution of food, hygiene and baby kits and awareness raising, to ensure the survival, protection and well-being of children.

During the cheque presentation, Aurélien Bastien stated: "We share with SOS Children's Villages World the same vision of a better future for all children and we send our sincere encouragement to employees to continue to defend this essential cause with the same fervor. Husky remains alongside the non-profit organisation to help make the protection and rights of the child a priority".

Sophie Glesener thanked Husky IMS for their donation, highlighting that "[t]his programme is part of our commitment to give the younger generations the means to rebuild themselves and to forge real plans for the future".
