On Sunday 9 February 2020, the Luxembourg-based association "Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal (AEIN)" is holding its 42nd traditional India-Nepal Bazaar at the Sandweiler cultural centre from 10:30; the proceeds from this year's event will be used to finance several projects aimed at strengthening the social conditions of women and girls in India and in Nepal.

The India-Nepal Bazaar will include cultural performances, stalls selling handmade artisanal products, books and spices, typical food from the regions, tombola games for all ages and, for the very first time, a Mount Everest challenge.

Indeed, visitors this year will have the chance to cheer on Luxembourg's Jean-Marie Wildgen, who will climb up to the summit of Everest from Camp 5 using a treadmill. Mr Wildgen will climb a total of 22 km in just four hours, at a speed of 6 km/h and an inclination of 12% - and all for charity.

For all Indian and Nepali food lovers, dosas (a traditional South Indian crepe), samosas and kulfi (typical ice cream) will be available. Additionally, there will be an Indian Buffet served from 12:00 to 14:00; visitors must pre-book their meal (€20 / €12 for children) via email: bazar@aein.lu or tel.: 260-94154. There will also be a food truck selling Luxembourgish food, including vegan options.

Visitors can also enjoy an afternoon of traditional cultural performances, including Indian and Nepali dance performances and a fashion show in collaboration with the Indian Association and the Non-Resident Nepali Association of Luxembourg. There will also be a yoga workshop by Yoga Santé Luxembourg at 13:00. This year, to showcase the campaign Visit Nepal 2020, the Bazaar will also host an information stall by the Embassy of Nepal in Belgium (Brussels).

Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Minister of Development Cooperation Paulette Lenert are expected to visit the Bazaar and take part in the festivities.

Parking will be available at SNCT, Sandweiler from where a free shuttle will bring visitors to the event.

The Bazaar is organised by Luxembourg-based NGO AEIN, which will donate all proceeds from the Everest Challenge and Bazaar activities to financing projects that strengthen the social conditions of women and girls in India and Nepal. Those wishing to support Jean-Marie Wildgen and the Everest Challenge can make a donation to CCRALULL LU55 0099 7800 0058 6149 with the reference “Mount Everest Challenge”.
