On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the Fondation de Luxembourg has released a report detailing its philanthropic efforts over the past decade.

The foundation, established in December 2008 on the initiative of the Luxembourg State and the Œuvre Nationale de Secours GrandeDuchesse Charlotte, acts an umbrella organisation for 80 individual foundations which together have around €200 million in assets which they manage, of which €35 million has been donated to philanthropic projects in Luxembourg and around the world.

In 2018, the Fondation de Luxembourg renewed its efforts to engage with the financial sector through a series of training sessions, presentations and events dedicated to wealth managers and private bankers with the purpose of encouraging them to address the theme of philanthropy with their clients.

The foundation focuses on five main areas: five themes: poverty and social cohesion; universal education; health and research; culture and diversity; biodiversity and climate change. Its various foundations include the "Education and Integration for All" Foundation, created in 2009 to improve the living conditions of orphaned or vulnerable children in Luxembourg and abroad, the "Fondation Alliances du Vivant", created in 2016 to support the therapeutic contribution of animals to humans, and the "Covenant Foundation", created in December 2018 to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged people, in the spirit of Christian values.

Council President Henri Grethen commented: "As President of the Fondation de Luxembourg, I hope that the success of the last ten years will serve as a solid basis for the future to continue to develop a philanthropy in tune with his time, transparent and effective, and maintain a sustained dynamic of creations new foundations."
