As part of its 15th anniversary years of existence, Action Avenir Haiti, together with the association Angels for Haiti Luxembourg, will set up an exhibition in Belle Etoile from 29 April to 4 May 2019 inclusive.

Located in the central hall of the shopping centre, this Haitian week will see various exhibitions, screenings, meetings and a concert. The organisers of this event are the association Angels for Haiti Luxembourg, created following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and Action Avenir Haiti, founded in 2004 and celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The main aim of these two non-profit organisations are to support the education and vocational training of young people in Haiti but also to raise public awareness about the problems of the Third World and those of Haiti in particular.

After organising a similar awareness week in 2008 under the title "Haiti Exists" (Haïti existe), the exhibition "Haiti - between Sorrow and Smiles" (Haïti – entre Peine et Sourire) will offer visitors a film screening, photos, decorated windows and informative documents intended to illustrate the two facets of Haiti: the negative side of a country trapped by poverty, violence, destruction and chaos, but also the positive, lesser known side of a country with wild and fascinating landscapes, characterised by an extremely rich culture and a warm population showing a thirst for life.

The week will be closed by an exceptional concert orchestrated by the Haitian singer, Bob Bovano, which will take place on Saturday 4 May at 16:00. Bob Bovano, a reggae singer, is one of those committed artists who arouse our awareness of the planet's problems. In addition to an international career, he is also a regular at Luxembourg music festivals.

Volunteers from both associations will be available to answer questions and provide further information. The exhibition, open to the public during the opening hours of the shopping centre, will also be accompanied by a shop selling various typical Haitian crafts.
