$On Easter Monday, the "Streetwork" service of Caritas Accueil et Solidarité asbl welcomed a delegation of children from the Maison Relais de Diekirch run by Arcus asbl, who came with their teachers, to present a number of backpacks to the initiative, for homeless people.
In recent months, the children of the Maison Relais Diekirch have organised a series of activities to raise money for homeless people.
During their visit to the "Streetwork" premises, the children were able to discuss at length life on the street with the educators, who rub shoulders with the homeless every day.
"Streetwork" is a service offered in partnership with the City of Luxembourg. It meets homeless people in the districts of Bonnevoie and Gare de Luxembourg-Ville, reorients them and offers them activities. It is also the link with the population of these neighbourhoods.
Among the activities offered, there is the "Power-Team" bodybuilding activity, supervised since 2007 by Georges Christen, and the "Streetfootball" activity. The children were able to discover the weights room where homeless people can train three times a week to recharge their batteries and gain their self-esteem.
Finally, the children had the opportunity to hand over a backpack to one homeless person who came to the Streetwork for help during the time when the children were present. The other backpacks will be distributed to the homeless on a needs basis.
Despite their young age, the children have understood the importance of helping those in need.
