On Thursday 4 June 2026, Luxembourg wholesale food distributor La Provençale announced that 38 of its delivery drivers have been recruited through a training and employment programme developed in partnership with Luxembourg's National Employment Agency (ADEM) over the past decade.
According to La Provençale and ADEM, these employees represent nearly 13% of La Provençale's delivery driver workforce. More than 120 jobseekers have benefited from the programme during the past ten years.
La Provençale, which employs more than 1,700 people and operates a fleet of 210 refrigerated trucks, launched the initiative in cooperation with ADEM, the National Centre for Continuing Vocational Training (CNFPC) and the Driver Training Centre (CFC) to address the shortage of delivery drivers in Luxembourg.
Faced with recruitment difficulties in the transport and logistics sector, the company said it sought to strengthen recruitment on the local labour market. To meet this need, ADEM developed, in close cooperation with the company and training centres, a dedicated programme for jobseekers.
The programme begins with an information session organised by ADEM and La Provençale, followed by recruitment workshops for pre-selected candidates. Those selected then complete a two-week placement designed to provide practical experience of the profession and the company's working environment.
"This stage allows us to recruit motivated people who embody the company's values on a daily basis: family spirit, teamwork, safety, customer service and efficiency. It also enables candidates to determine whether they can see themselves working in our company," explained Georges Eischen, Managing Partner of La Provençale.
Candidates who continue in the programme undertake delivery driver training, which includes obtaining a Category C driving licence and completing a four-week theoretical course at the CNFPC. ADEM finances the entire programme, while La Provençale commits to offering permanent employment contracts to candidates who successfully complete the training.
ADEM Director Isabelle Schlesser highlighted the importance of the initiative: "Our mission at ADEM is to match skills with business needs and to support jobseekers towards sustainable career opportunities. This partnership with La Provençale illustrates our conviction that training must lead to employment."
Georges Eischen welcomed the results achieved through the collaboration: "This valuable partnership with ADEM helps us to meet our recruitment needs while offering genuine professional opportunities to jobseekers living in Luxembourg. The results demonstrate the relevance of this collaborative approach between the public and private sectors."
The partners also announced that a new training session will begin in September 2026. In addition to the delivery driver programme, ADEM and La Provençale cooperate in other occupations experiencing labour shortages, including food-related professions. A vocational training programme in butchery is currently underway.
Since September 2025, La Provençale has also held the "Company, Employment Partner" label, which recognises employers that actively support professional integration through measures such as declaring job vacancies to ADEM, organising recruitment workshops and maintaining close cooperation with the employment agency.
