The first final of the My First Enterprise (MFE) programme took place on Thursday 19 April 2018 at the premises of Banque et Caisse d'Epargne.

About 80 people attended the final of this first edition, during which 16 finalists presented their projects. Students Gary Mosar and Felix Clement from the Comfi Chillows mini-company also shared their experiences and all they learned during this year.

The MFE programme was launched this year by Jonk Entrepreneuren and was immediately successful with 49 teams having registered, representing approximately 200 students aged between 15 and 16 years old.

For a period of about 3 months, a group of 3-4 students with a starting capital of €40 attempts to grow their business through the buying and selling of small products, a service offered or a small production activity. The objective of the programme is to develop skills among young people by allowing them to work in groups, manage a project together, be in contact with suppliers and consumers and prepare them for future projects.

The 4 members of the jury, Erny Huberty, Marketing Manager at Enovos, Jérôme Wiwinius, Head of Corporate Clientele and International Relations at La LuxembourgeoiseVie, Goy Grosbusch, Sales Manager at Grosbusch and Jean-Luc Bermes, Head of the SME Division and Real Estate Promotions - Corporate Banking Service at BCEE, were impressed by the ease and quality of the presentations of the different groups.

The three best teams have been awarded prizes. To determine the winners, the members of the jury relied on the files submitted in advance, on the originality of the product or service itself and on the presentation during the final.

The first prize was awarded to L.E.S. Muffins team of Lycée Aline Mayrisch. Laura Diderich, Ece Mutlu and Shamia Islam produced homemade muffins and sold 125, from which they made a profit of €170.

The second prize was awarded to the SockiSocks team of the Marie-Consolatrice Private School. Marcia Figueiredo and Tania Santos came up with the idea of giving a second life to socks by transforming them into soft toys. The jury members found their idea and their product very original.

The third prize went to the Black & White Power team from Lycée Technique Lallange. The three students, Ana da Veiga, Julie Santos, Letitica Barbosa and Elsan Kozar came up with the idea of making homemade muffins and selling them at school. They sold more than 100 muffins and made a profit of €110 euros.
