On Friday 17 June 2016, the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) of Luxembourg will be organising a guided tour at Musée Dräi Eechelen.
An historic landmark, the restored remains of the 18th century Fort Thüngen has hosted the Musée Dräi Eechelen (M3E) dedicated to the Fortress since 2012. Each permanent display case documents a period in the history of the fortress, highlighting links to the history of the city as a whole.
The story begins in the Middle Ages with the invasion by the Burguignons in 1443 and ends with the construction of the Adolphe Bridge in 1903. Around 600 objects and original documents testify to this history, many of them previously unseen, whilst another area hosts photography depicting the demolition of the fortress. The building itself constitutes the main exhibit, comprising a spectacular network of underground tunnels and drifts which remain in a state similar to when the construction was finalised (1836-37).
As places are limited, priority will be given to BCC Members. Participants will be meeting at 12:00 prompt at Musée Drai Eechelen, 5 Park Drai Eechelen, L-1499 Luxembourg. The tour will be followed by a barbecue at the Hotel Melia, a short walk away. The event costs 45€ for BCC Members and 60€ for Non-Members. An invoice will be issued prior to the event as payment on the door will not by possible.
