Film Fund Luxembourg has announced that Payal Kapadia was awarded the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for her film All We Imagine as Light, a Luxembourg co-production.

The film was co-produced by Gilles Chanial and Govinda Van Maele (Les Films Fauves, Luxembourg) with France, India and the Netherlands.

The feature film was financially supported by the Film Fund Luxembourg as part of the “Cineworld” selective financial aid.

Luxembourg’s Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, who attended the Cannes Film Festival last weekend, expressed his delight concerning this recognition for the two producers of Films Fauves: “After having already competed at Cannes last year, the work of Gilles Chanial and Govinda Van Maele is now enjoying all the success it deserves. An extraordinary success which demonstrates the diversity and quality of our audiovisual sector in Luxembourg. Congratulations! "

Luxembourg’s Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, was also satisfied with this recognition and declared: “I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate the producers. This prize is also a consecration for the entire Luxembourg audiovisual sector, whose creative work has continued to be recognised internationally for years.”

Since 1989, 46 films co-produced with Luxembourg have been selected at Cannes; the Grand Duchy now has a total of thirteen prizes, including this Grand Prize.
