A Luxembourg short film, The Red Suitcase ("La Valise Rouge") has won the “Best Short Film” award at the 20th edition of Tirana International Film Festival 2022.

With this award, the film is eligible for 95th Academy Awards consideration in the category Live Action Short Film. The Red Suitcase is among the 90 short films on the "long list" which the Academy members will pare down to a "short list" in each category for final consideration. Currently, the film is also competing at the 35th European Film Awards with 28 others.

Directed by Cyrus Neshvad, the film was shot exclusively in Luxembourg and takes its writing impetus from the director's Persian roots. The film tells the story of a veiled Iranian girl trapped in a fate she wants to avoid.

Director Neshvad said in the statement to the European Film Awards, "My thoughts are with the Iranian women right now who are fighting for their rights. I hope this short movie can help changing situation. The aim of my film is to abolish the women's oppression all over the world."
