On Wednesday 24 January 2018, the Ville de Luxembourg presented helmets to 35 firefighters of the city's Fire and Ambulance Department, in the presence of Mayor Lydie Polfer and Simone Beissel, alderman responsible for fire, rescue and ambulances.

The 35 firefighters of the 2015-2017 class undertook 26 months of practical training in both Luxembourg and Germany, as well as a theoretical part. The theoretical part included, amongst others, courses in physics, chemistry and mechanics, rescue training, training "Rettungssanitäter" and "Rescue to Person 3" as well as courses in prevention and management of exceptional situations. The practical part, meanwhile, included various exercises of extinction and anti-pollution of waters, exercises with different vehicles and internships in national and international hospitals.

The 3,768 hours of training were provided by first aid, fire and rescue instructors, as well as instructors from the "RAGTAL", the Emergency Services Administration and experts in the Grand Duchy.
