On Friday 7 August 2026, during a warm summer day, Stëmm vun der Strooss welcomed many beneficiaries of its services on a friendly day trip, an annual tradition which is much-anticipated every year, both by its beneficiaries and by its reintegration workers.

The outing allows the homeless and vulnerable members of society to step away from their often-difficult daily lives. For one day, young people facing difficulties, migrants, people with mental health issues, the long-term unemployed, and people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction can travel and have fun.

Once again this year, each Stëmm vun der Strooss restaurant organised its own excursion. Thus, the beneficiaries from Esch-sur-Alzette (112 rue du Canal) travelled to Walibi amusement park in Belgium; those from Ettelbruck (47 rue Prince Henri) headed to Walygator amusement park in France; while the beneficiaries of the restaurant in Luxembourg-Hollerich (7 rue de la Fonderie) spent the day at the Grottes de Han in Belgium.

In Esch-sur-Alzette, the restaurant remained open, with several members of the team staying on site to ensure meal services. Nevertheless, more than 70 people went on the excursion.

At the Ettelbruck site, 98 people enjoyed this wonderful day out. Some even came with their families to make the most of the many attractions. At the end of the day, everyone was tired, but the children’s eyes were still shining. This beautiful image alone sums up the success of the day for Stëmm in Ettelbruck.

Finally, from the Hollerich social restaurant, around 90 people joined this wonderful day. The programme included a visit to the Grottes de Han and their magnificent nature and wildlife park, a train ride, shows and a barbecue buffet. Needless to say, the participants thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Mohamed, a regular beneficiary of Stëmm in Hollerich, shared his experience with a big smile: “I really had a great time. I learned a lot about the cave. The visit was very enjoyable, and we got to see lots of animals, such as bears. We also ate very well. I had a hamburger during the barbecue, and it was delicious.”

Another beneficiary, Carmen, said that she had enjoyed the cave more than the park, but that the day as a whole had been perfect.

However, the beneficiaries were not the only ones who had the opportunity to enjoy this outing: Stëmm’s employees were also there. They were able to enjoy the day while ensuring that the activities ran smoothly and accompanying the participants.

Hedda, a member of the production service in Hollerich, told us: “Oh, I loved it because it was a first for me! It was absolutely amazing. At first, I was worried that it would be too long, but in the end, I would definitely go back! The cave was a feast for the eyes, just like the show, which was absolutely magnificent. I loved the barbecue and its buffet-style setup. What’s more, nobody argued. There was a really good atmosphere between the beneficiaries and the employees. They all behaved very well, and I can say, in general, that they were very happy. And that was wonderful to see.”

Incredible moments that everyone enjoyed, smiles, laughter and, above all, many memories that will remain etched in everyone’s minds. Once again, this day allowed beneficiaries and employees to share a moment away from their daily routines, in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
