The Grand Ducal Police have announced that 200 trainee officers began their training at the Police School (École de Police) in Luxembourg-Findel on Monday 4 May 2026.
According to the police, the candidates were selected following a recruitment procedure and a special examination, which included computer-based and standardised language and general knowledge tests, psychological assessments and a physical test. Out of more than 600 applicants who initially registered last autumn, 200 were admitted to the training programme.
Among the admitted trainees, 29 are female and 171 male. In terms of age distribution, 115 are under 25, 54 are aged between 25 and 29, 29 are between 30 and 39, and two are over 40.
During the welcome address, Deputy Director General Alain Engelhardt and Director of the Police School Fabio Santomauro welcomed the new trainees and congratulated them on choosing a career in the police. Following a series of explanations and practical information, the trainees were assigned to their respective classes.
The police added that the basic professional training for future police officers lasts two years and includes a training phase at the Police School, as well as a practical placement phase within police stations, the Criminal Police Service and other police units.
