Police Report Several People Taken Into Custody Due to Drunken Behaviour

The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on the evening of Tuesday 15 September 2026, they were informed of several individuals whose behaviour was deemed concerning and had to be placed in temporary police custody to sober up.

According to the police, they were informed of a person at the entrance to Luxembourg City’s main railway station who was disturbing public order. At the scene, officers encountered a visibly intoxicated man who could not be calmed down. As he failed to comply with several requests to leave the area and also posed a danger to himself and others, he was taken into custody to sober up.

At the same time, police were informed of a woman in a shop on Rue du Curé in Diekirch who was harassing customers. An altercation subsequently took place between a member of staff and the woman. At the scene, officers encountered a heavily intoxicated woman who became increasingly uncooperative. She repeatedly kicked at the officers and the paramedics who had been called to the scene. As she posed a danger to herself and others and was disturbing public order, she was taken into custody to sober up.

Moreover at around 21:45, police were informed of an intoxicated person on a bus who could not be woken. When officers boarded the bus at a stop on Rue Prince Henri in Ettelbruck, they found an unresponsive person. Paramedics managed to wake the man. However, he declined hospital treatment and became increasingly uncooperative. As he was deemed to pose a danger both to himself and others and was disturbing public order, he was taken into custody to sober up.

In all cases, corresponding reports were drawn up.
