The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents that occurred between Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 February 2026, including a burglary, violent robberies, a hit-and-run involving drink driving and further break-ins.
On Monday morning, police were informed that several men had gained access to a single-family house on Route de Longwy in Pétange. A police patrol attended the scene and found a broken window. Inside the property, officers located five men, who were subsequently checked. Alleged stolen property, a pepper spray and knives were seized from one of the individuals. The men were taken to a police station for further procedural steps. A report was drawn up and the stolen items were returned to their rightful owner.
On Tuesday evening, police were alerted to a robbery at Oberkorn railway station. According to initial information, the victim was threatened and assaulted by several individuals, after which his backpack was stolen before the perpetrators fled the scene. An immediate search proved unsuccessful and further investigations are ongoing.
Later the same evening, a fight was reported on Rue de Bonnevoie in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. A police patrol was immediately dispatched and located one of the individuals involved. Initial findings indicated that a verbal dispute had first occurred between two men, before the eventual victim was attacked by several individuals and robbed of his backpack. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for checks. A subsequent search yielded no results and an investigation has been launched.
Also on Tuesday evening, a hit-and-run incident was reported on Rue des Écoles in Niederkorn, involving a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. A police patrol located the vehicle one street away, but the driver was not present. Officers later found the vehicle’s owner at his home address, where he showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and tested positive in a breathalyser test. Further checks revealed that the vehicle did not have a valid road tax disc. The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered that an accident report be drawn up and imposed a driving ban. Two fines were also issued for deficiencies in the vehicle’s on-board documents.
Police also reported further burglaries. On Tuesday afternoon, unknown perpetrators gained access to a business premises in Remich, where cash was among the items stolen. Later the same day, a burglary was reported at a detached house in Nocher-Route (Goesdorf). According to initial findings, intruders entered the property via a smashed glass patio door and ransacked the interior.
Investigations are ongoing in all cases.
