On Friday 21 November 2025, the Grand Ducal Police reported that after extensive investigations a man has been arrested in relation to several cases of fraud which targeted older citizens in Luxembourg.

According to the police, for several weeks they have been conducting extensive investigations at a national level into a series of fraud offences specifically targeting older citizens where the perpetrators posed primarily as parcel couriers and delivery service employees. Under false pretences, the perpetrators succeeded in obtaining credit cards as well as sensitive credit card data, which was then used to carry out various cash withdrawals and payments.

The police have reported that on Thursday 20 November, a main suspect, who was already the subject of an arrest warrant, was identified and arrested in Clervaux. He was brought before an investigating judge and a detention order was issued.

The Répression du Grand Banditisme (Suppression of Organized Crime) division of the Luxembourg Criminal Police has been entrusted with the investigations into what currently stands at eleven offences. It is assumed that the number of offences attributed to the suspects will increase significantly as the investigations progress.

The police said that the Diekirch Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation with the investigating judge. In this context, arrest warrants for several suspects have been issued.

Moreover, investigations by the Luxembourg Criminal Police are ongoing in order to examine any possible further accomplices and offences.

The police reiterated that the presumption of innocence applies.
