The Grand Ducal Police have reported that they carried out a large-scale inspection in several cafes in southern Luxembourg on the evening of Saturday 30 November 2024.

The checks took place in Differdange, Pétange, Rodange and Esch-sur-Alzette, from 22:00 to 02:00. The police checked compliance with the provisions of the liquor law and drug legislation violations, as well as several individuals.

A total of 40 police officers from various units were involved in the inspections.

Two establishments had to be closed due to a lack of liquor licence or business permit.

In addition, reports were drawn up in two cases due to the absence of a manager or deputy manager, in another two cases due to illegal work and in one case due to failure to comply with the closing time.

The police issued a total of six fines, five of which were related to drug possession and one due to a lack of display of permits and sales prices in a bar. In another case, a report was drawn up for drug possession. In addition, one individual was found to have violated the immigration law.

The officers also confiscated a knife and a drug scale during the checks.
