On Tuesday 19 November 2024, members of the press (including Chronicle.lu) had the opportunity to visit the construction site of the future 4-star Anatura Hotel overlooking the lakes of Weiswampach in northern Luxembourg.

This immersive event provided an overview of the project, which centres around relaxation and sustainable tourism in harmony with nature.

Despite initial obstacles and delays, the hotel complex is expected to officially open its doors towards the end of January 2025. Construction began in October 2020.

The event kicked off with a presentation of the vision and values of Anatura and Groupe Lamy, the family business behind the brand. The group specialises in the construction, real estate development and tourism sectors and is active in Belgium, France and, more recently, Luxembourg.

The representatives speaking at the event emphasised the importance of anchoring the Anatura project in its natural environment. The idea is to develop “nature as a destination”, offering a high-quality relaxation experience while respecting and preserving the environment. The speakers added that they valued working with local and regional businesses, authorities and staff.

The choice of location for the project was clear, thanks to the natural beauty of northern Luxembourg, notably the lakes of Weiswampach, and its proximity to neighbouring Germany and Belgium.

In terms of architecture, the group teamed up with Remerschen-based Valentiny hvp Architects to create a somewhat simple but contemporary building that is integrated in its natural environment and uses sustainable materials and environmentally responsible energy solutions.

The hotel will count some 90 rooms and suites ranging in size and price, from premium rooms to family duplexes (including adjoining rooms). Private individuals can also purchase a room, with prices again varying. The complex will also feature a large Cinq Mondes spa area, plus a SENSA restaurant and lounge bar.

Future amenities include a rooftop bar for events, nature lodges and an outdoor dining space (open also to the public, not only guests), as well as a cable park and a tree climbing and zip line experience. The possibility to rent electric scooters to explore the surrounding area is also foreseen. All activities organised on the complex will be open to non-guests.

In addition to accommodating those seeking relaxation (individuals, couples, families, who can even bring along their pet dogs), the Anatura Hotel can cater to the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, events) sector with a 500 m2 modular seminar space for groups of up to 240 people.

The presentation was followed by a guided visit of the construction site, including a sneak peek at the seminar space (still under construction) and a few finished hotel rooms. The panoramic views over the lakes were impressive - even on a wet and windy day like Tuesday.

Internationally renowned Belgian chef Yves Mattagne later presented his vision for the SENSA restaurant and lounge bar, with a menu that aims to cater to all tastes, combining regional and international flavours, in a welcoming environment. The guests had the opportunity to experience this culinary concept themselves by indulging in appetisers as the event came to a close.
