On Friday 4 October 2024, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Finance issued a warning about recent phishing attempts where scammers impersonated employees of the Luxembourg Inland Revenue (Administration des contributions directes - ACD).
These callers target citizens, threatening legal action and attempting to intimidate victims. While the exact goal of the scam remains unclear, it is suspected that the perpetrators aim to either gather personal information or solicit payments.
The ACD stressed that it never contacts citizens by phone for legal actions or payment demands, as all official communication is conducted by mail. Citizens are advised to be cautious and, if in doubt, to contact their local tax office via the official phone numbers provided below for confirmation:
