On Sunday 25 August 2024, the Grand Ducal Police has confirmed that they were called out to a number of calls relating to disturbances of the peace on Saturday evening through to the early hours of Sunday morning.
A number of fights and disputes broke out and were reported to the police; in the majority of cases, either nothing was found at the location reported, or the situation could be clarified.
At around 05:00, a member of the public reported that he had been hit in the face in Rue de la Boucherie in Luxembourg City. The police initiated a search for the perpetrators; however, the search was unsuccessful.
Earlier on Saturday evening, the police in Clervaux were informed of a fight that had broken out in which one person was hit by three other men; again, no arrest was made; however, the victim was offered support.
Shortly before midnight, an argument between four or five people was reported at the Schouberfouer. This was resolved by the police officers stationed at the Schouberfouer (temporary) police station. In addition, following a verbal argument and due to his intoxicated state, a visitor to the Schouberfouer had to be placed in detention.
