The Grand Ducal Police have reported two separate incidents which occurred on Monday 5 August 2024.

On Monday afternoon, a shoplifting incident was reported in a shop on Route d'Arlon in Strassen. A police patrol found the suspect on-site. Stolen goods were discovered during a body search. The suspect was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor's office.

Later, on Monday evening, police apprehended a a suspected drug dealer in Luxembourg City. A police patrol at the intersection of Avenue de la Gare and Rue Jean Origer in the Luxembourg-Gare district noticed a suspicious individual. The man quickly walked off onto Avenue de la Gare upon seeing the officers.

A short while later, the police encountered the man again near Place de Paris and decided to stop him as they suspected he might be a drug dealer. As the officers approached the man, they observed him swallowing something. The suspect was then immobilised and four plastic balls fell out of his mouth.

The public prosecutor's office ordered the man's arrest and a scanner test, but the latter came back negative.
