On Friday 1 March 2024, the Grand Ducal Police announced that an increasing number of fraud attempts have been reported to them in which private individuals are asked by email to transfer money in order to avoid becoming victims of an alleged contract killer.

According to the police, an attempt is made to put the recipient under pressure by the sender stating that, in exchange for a considerable sum of money, he would be willing to refrain from carrying out his order and instead reveal information about his client.

The Grand Ducal Police have stressed that this is nothing more than a scam. They therefore advise not to respond to the email under any circumstances, to delete it immediately and to block the sender.

Those who may have become a victim (or have suffered damage) from such fraud, are asked to contact a police station of your choice to file a report.
