The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on the evening of Sunday 13 July 2025, two cars collided on the A7 motorway, resulting in the death of one of the drivers.
According to the police, at approximately 22:40, they received a report of a car travelling in the wrong direction along the A7 motorway.
The car, travelling southbound on the northern route of the road, collided with another car between the tunnels “Mersch” and “Gousselerbierg”, near Mersch.
The driver of that vehicle, a 42-year-old man from Wiltz, died at the scene of the accident.
The driver travelling in the wrong direction sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
The public prosecutor's office was informed and commissioned the forensics unit to attend the scene and investigate the accident. Both vehicles were seized.
The A7 motorway remained closed to northbound traffic between Lorentzweiler and Mersch until around 04:30.
