Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg will celebrate her 33rd birthday on Friday 16 February 2024.
Princess Alexandra Joséphine Teresa Charlotte Marie Wilhelmine is the fourth child and only daughter of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. She was born at the Maternité Grand-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg on 16 February 1991.
Princess Alexandra attended primary school in Angelsberg before completing her secondary education at Lycée Vauban, where she obtained her Baccalaureate in Arts and Literature (with honours) in 2009. After studying psychology and social sciences in the United States, she continued her university studies in Paris, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, with a focus on ethics and anthropology. She later graduated from Trinity College in Dublin. In 2017, she was awarded a Masters in Interfaith Studies from the Irish School of Ecumenics with a specialisation in conflict resolution.
With an interest in politics and religious studies, Princess Alexandra went on to gain experience in journalism in the Middle East and international relations through an internship at the United Nations Security Council in New York, during the period when Luxembourg was a non-permanent member.
Princess Alexandra, a polyglot, is fluent in Luxembourgish, French, English and Spanish and has a good knowledge of German and Italian.
Whenever her schedule permits, Princess Alexandra actively participates in the events of the Grand Ducal Family, attending ceremonies and official functions, such as Luxembourg's National Day or the State visit to Japan in November 2017.
Furthermore, she works as a volunteer to help refugees and holds the High Patronage of the Lëtzebuerger Déiereschutzliga (Luxembourg animal protection league) as well as the Fondation Lëtzebuerger Blannevereenegung (Luxembourg association of the blind).
In December 2022, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess announced the engagement of Princess Alexandra to Nicolas Bagory. The civil wedding took place on 22 April 2023 at the town hall of the City of Luxembourg. The religious ceremony was held on 29 April 2023 at Église Saint-Trophyme in Bormes-les-Mimosas (France).
