On Monday 5 February 2024, as part of an exchange of views, Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg’s Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, met representatives of the ministry's approved organisations.
In carrying out its social missions, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Diversity (MEGA) works closely with the following organisations:
- Caritas;
- CID Fraen an Gender;
- Cicada;
- The National Council of Women of Luxembourg (CNFL);
- Luxembourg Red Cross;
- Femmes en détresse Asbl;
- Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte;
- Fondation Pro Familia;
- InfoMann – Act Together ASBL;
- Initiativ Rëm Schaffen;
- Rosa Lëtzebuerg.
Partner organisations manage, among other things, reception centres and consultation services to provide social and psychosocial support for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking as well as people suffering from a wide range of distress and discrimination because of their sex, gender identity, their sexual orientation or based on the variation of their gender characteristics.
Yuriko Backes underlined that the approved organisations “are essential, committed and dedicated partners, without whom the ministry could not accomplish the numerous missions within the framework of its equality policy.”
The minister added she was pleased that their fields of action and target audiences are diversified. “The activities of our approved sector are thus a reflection of our society” concluded the minister, who also launched an appeal to managers to rally around the ambitions of achieving together the objectives that the government has set in the coalition agreement 2023-2028.
The minister noted she intends to establish a permanent dialogue between MEGA and managers to meet at regular intervals to discuss pressing issues in the approved sector.
