The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg – VdL) has announced that it will be introducing new financial aid aimed at protecting buildings or infrastructure against floods.

The City of Luxembourg expressed its desire to support the inhabitants of the capital in the face of the growing risk of extreme weather phenomena. Since 1 January 2024, individuals and small businesses (staff of less than 50 people; annual turnover less than €10 million or total annual balance sheet less than €10 million) can claim a new municipal subsidy. To qualify for the latter, individuals must have received the state subsidy for implementing flood protection measures for buildings or infrastructure. The municipal subsidy from the City of Luxembourg, put in place as part of its flood risk management plan, amounts to one-third of the amount previously granted by the state.

To apply for the subsidy, citizens will have to complete the form on primes.vdl.lu and submit it with the ministerial decision detailing the state subsidy amount, along with a Bank ID statement. Submissions must reach the Finance Department of the City of Luxembourg (9, boulevard F.D. Roosevelt, L-2450) within six months of the ministerial decision date, failing which the request may be foreclosed.
