National Day Parade 2017;

On the occasion of Luxembourg's national day celebrations on Friday 23 June 2023, a number of special events are being planned.

On the Eve of the National Day, on Thursday 22 June, the Changing of the Guard will take place at the Grand Ducal Palace at 16:00, the torchlit parade starts at 21:20 from the Rue Aldringen and then passes by the official Grandstand on Place Guillaume II, also with the Military Band performing. The fireworks display then commences at 23:00, from Pont Adolphe. Earlier that day, HRH the Grand Duke and HRH the Grand Duchess will visit Grevenmacher, with the Hereditary Grand Duke and Hereditary Grand Duchess visiting Esch-sur-Alzette. 

Throughout the evening, live music will be performed at a series of outdoor stages and indoors at a number of pubs / cafés / restaurants, many of which will have bar extensions until 03:00.

On the National Day itself, the Philharmonie concert hall in Luxembourg-Kirchberg will host the Official Ceremony and special National Day concert from 10:00, in the presence of members of the Royal Family, Members of Parliament, Members of Government, members of the Council of State, the judiciary, the municipal council of the City of Luxembourg and of the diplomatic corps accredited in Luxembourg. At 11:00, the traditional National Day 21 Canons will be fired from Fetschenhaff at 11:00, before the Grand Duke, Grand Duchess and others make their way to the Grandstand on the Avenue de la Liberté (Place des Martyrs) for the Official Parade and fly-over.

Note: as a dress rehearsal for this event, Monday 19 June will see an A400M transport plane, an Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) transport plane, as well as a Airbus H145M Police helicopter will perform a low-altitude flight over Avenue de la Liberté, at around 13:30. A flight ban (covering both aircraft and drones) over part of the city's airspace will be in force on 19 (between 11:00 - 14:00, at the airport and West airspace 22 (from 14:00 at City airspace) and 23 (all day at City airspace) June 2023. 

At 16:30, the final official event of the day, the Te Deum service will take place at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg city, again with members of the Grand Ducal family in attendance.
