The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (Corps grand-ducal d'incendie et de secours - CGDIS) has reported that its firefighters put out a house fire in Christnach in the early hours of Wednesday 3 May 2023.
Responding to calls concerning a house fire in Fielserstroos, Christnach, on Wednesday at 01:21, the first emergency services team to arrive had to employ ladders to bring to safety the three people stuck on the first floor of the house. The release of smoke from a bedroom on the ground floor was blocking their way.
The three people who inhaled toxic fumes were taken to hospital and then transferred to the on-call clinic. Three cats were also evacuated from the building.
In total, 30 volunteer and professional firefighters were mobilised for this intervention.
The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps issued the reminder that, in case of smoke, smoke detectors quickly trigger an audible alert and save inhabitants time to evacuate and call the fire brigade at 112, especially at night.
