The Grand Ducal Police have reported that three people died as a result of a road traffic accident in Luxembourg-Neudorf this morning, Monday 6 March 2023.

The accident happened at around 10:10 on the Rue de Neudorf, near the “Fierschterhaus” bus stop, involving two cars and a pedestrian.

At the bus stop, there was a rear-end collision between the two cars that wanted to drive past a stationary bus coming from the direction of Findel. Following the impact, a pedestrian was hit and suffered fatal injuries on the spot.

The second car with two occupants struck an adjacent house. Both occupants, a 64-year-old driver and his 31-year-old passenger, died at the scene of the accident. The seriously injured driver of the first car was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The police arrived at the scene and the public prosecutor's office ordered a forensic examination of the accident site, whereupon measuring and detection service arrived to undertake an on-site accident survey; the implicated vehicles were confiscated by order or the prosecutor's office.

Until further notice, the accident area is closed to all traffic.

Update: On Tuesday 7 March 2023, the Grand Ducal Police confirmed that the affected area was open to traffic again. They have appealed to witnesses, including one person (pedestrian) who reportedly saw the pedestrian who died in the accident immediately before the incident took place.
