The Grand Ducal Court has issued a statement announcing the death of Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Luxembourg, the younger sister of the late Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg (1921-2019).

Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess announced "with great sadness" the news of the death of Princess Marie-Gabrielle, aged 97, on Friday 10 February 2023.

Princess Marie-Gabrielle was born in Berg Castle in Colmar-Berg (Luxembourg) on 2 August 1925, the fourth child of Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg and Prince Félix of Bourbon-Parma. She married Count Knud of Holstein-Ledreborg (1919-2001) in 1951 and together they had seven daughters.

Princess Marie-Gabrielle was the aunt and godmother of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg.

Update: On Monday 13 February 2023, the Grand Ducal Court confirmed that Grand Duke Henri would attend the funeral of Princess Marie-Gabrielle, which has been confirmed for the morning of Saturday 18 February 2023 at Ledreborg Castle near Copenhagen, Denmark.
