Luxembourg's Prison Administration has reported that a prisoner was found dead in his cell at the Centre pénitentiaire de Luxembourg (CPL), also known as Schrassig Prison, on Monday afternoon.
At around 16:20 on Monday 31 October 2022, prison officers found the prisoner dead in his cell at the CPL. The judicial authorities have been informed and an autopsy will be carried out.
The Prison Administration confirmed that family members or the corresponding contact person would be informed of the prisoner's death.
The Ombudsman, the Director of the Prison Administration, the Director and the Deputy Director of the CPL, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (Corps grand-ducal d'incendie et de secours - CGDIS) and the Grand Ducal Police were present at the scene.
