His Royal Highness Prince Félix, second child of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, is celebrating his 38th birthday on Friday.

Prince Félix Léopold Marie Guillaume was born on 3 June 1984 at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg. Named after his great-grandfather Prince Félix of Bourbon-Parma, Prince Félix of Luxembourg is third in line to the throne.

Prince Félix married Claire Lademacher on 21 September 2013 at the Basilica of Sainte Marie-Madeleine de Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in France. The couple have two children: Princess Amalia Gabriela Maria Teresa (born 15 June 2014) and Prince Liam Henri Hartmut (born 28 November 2016).

After completing his primary education in Lorentzweiler, Prince Félix continued his secondary school studies at École Privée Notre-Dame Sainte-Sophie de Luxembourg, before attending the American School of Luxembourg. In 1998, he joined the Swiss boarding school Collège Alpin Beau Soleil in Villars-sur-Ollon, where he met his future wife. In 2003, he graduated with honours from secondary school. He then joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, but had to quit for health reasons before graduating.

From 2005 to 2009, Prince Félix worked in the marketing and public relations department of a Swiss company specialising in the organisation of sporting and cultural events. He then resumed his studies, starting with intensive Italian language courses in Milan before enrolling in a Bachelor’s degree and completing a Master's degree in Bioethics at the University Regina Apostolorum in Rome in 2013.

Since then, he and his wife have been managing the vineyard Château les Crostes in Lorgues in southern France. In 2016, Prince Félix became the president of the Lorgues Terre de Vins association, a group of twelve winegrowers from Lorgues, who promote their town in Provence as an attractive tourist and wine destination. That same year, Prince Félix and Princess Claire created, together with a couple of friends, the company “Young Empire”, a clothing, furniture and homeware brand for children.

In addition to Luxembourgish, Prince Félix is fluent in French, English, German and Italian. He also has some basic knowledge of Spanish.

Prince Félix regularly takes part in the activities of the Grand Ducal Family. When his schedule permits, he attends ceremonies or official activities such as Luxembourg's National Day or the last day of the Octave. He can also represent his brother, the Hereditary Grand Duke, at events if the latter is unable to participate. Occasionally, he and his wife participate in other activities, such as visiting the International Bazaar of the Luxembourg Red Cross.

In addition, Prince Félix accepted the High Patronage of the parachutist sports association Cercle Para Luxembourg / Fédération aéronautique luxembourgeoise (FAL) in 2003. A keen basketball fan, he has also held the permanent High Patronage of the Luxembourg Basketball Federation (FLBB) since 2005.

Prince Félix holds the rank of Knight of the Order of the Gold Lion of the House of Nassau.
