150 People Fined for Non-Compliance with COVID-19 Restrictions

Last week, the Grand Ducal Police carried out around 370 checks across Luxembourg to ensure compliance with COVID-19 measures, particularly concerning the curfew, gatherings and sanitary concepts in shopping centres.

Around 150 individuals received fines during this period; in around 70% of the cases, those concerned were found to be out out after curfew (between 23:00 and 06:00).

Shortly after 01:00 on Sunday 14 March 2021, police officers issued fines to ten individuals who had gathered at a campsite in the north of the country.

Police officers issued an additional eleven fines in relation to non-compliance with the sanitary regulations in place, particularly in the context of private gatherings or because business premises failed to comply with the regulations.

For instance, shortly after 22:00 on Friday 12 March 2021, the police received reports of several people who had gathered in a grocery store in Esch-sur-Alzette but failed to comply with the legal requirements: some were not wearing a mask, others consumed alcohol inside the premises.
