The Directorate of Immigration of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has confirmed that Luxembourg received a total of 65 applications for international protection (asylum) last month.
The number of people applying for asylum in Luxembourg in February 2021 dropped slightly from 67 the previous month and more noticeably from 105 in February 2020.
A total of 95 decisions on asylum applications were taken last month, with 69 applicants being granted refugee status in Luxembourg.
So far this year, Luxembourg has received a total of 132 asylum applications - almost half the number received this time last year (260).
The largest number of applicants seeking asylum in February 2021 came from Syria (21), followed by Eritrea (17) and Iraq (5).
