The Grand Ducal Police carried out around 400 checks across Luxembourg last week to ensure compliance with COVID-19 measures, particularly concerning the curfew, sanitary concepts in shopping centres and restrictions on gatherings.
Around 150 individuals received fines last week, namely (in 90% of cases) for being out after curfew (between 23:00 and 06:00). Police officers carried out around 230 curfew-related checks in total during this period.
In addition, the police issued fines to seventeen establishments for failing to comply with the sanitary regulations in place. This applied to cases in which minors did not comply with the applicable regulations, during private gatherings or in cases in which restaurants failed to adhere to the sanitary regulations.

In another case, six people were found drinking alcoholic beverages in a café in Esch-sur-Alzette in the night from 6 to 7 February 2021. Those present received a fine and a report was drawn up.
