The Grand Ducal Police has confirmed that, during the last seven days, a total of around 390 checks were carried out across the Grand Duchy to ensure compliance with the legal provisions as part of the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
Above all, the rules regarding gatherings of people, the exit restrictions (around 270 controls alone) and the sanitary concepts for shopping centres were the focus of the controls.
In 14 cases, police officers had to formally report to the responsible authorities, because people did not adhere to the applicable measures. For example, on 21 January 2021, during a control of a grocery store in Esch-sur-Alzette at around 10:30, two customers were caught consuming alcohol inside the shop. The two people were warned and a dossier was compiled.
A total of 120 people were fined, around 70% of them for disregarding the curfew in force between 23:00 and 06:00.
