HRH Grand Duke Jean, who passed away in April 2019;
Today, Tuesday 5 January 2021, on the 100th anniversary of the birth of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Jean, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel announced the government's decision to install a monument in memory of the former Grand Duke in the capital.
In consultation with His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri, the City of Luxembourg, the Ministry of Culture and the Public Building Administration, the monument will be installed in Pescatore park, on the Côte d'Eich side with the Luxembourg-Kirchberg skyline in the background.
A competition will be launched for the design and construction of the monument. The procedure and content of this competition will be announced in the first half of 2021.
