The Ville de Luxembourg has announced that all Christmas trees of residents within its municipality will be removed from January 2021, as follows:
- trees which have been painted with spray-dye and / or with decorations will be removed during the normal weekly rounds of collection of mixed residual waste.
- "Clean" trees, i.e. those that have not been spray-dyed and are without decoration, will be collected separately, also on the day of collection of mixed residual waste, or even the following day, with a view to composting them.
In both cases, it is sufficient for residents to place the tree on the pavement outside their property, or at the edge of their property, before 06:00 on the day of the collection of mixed residual waste (the calendar of collection routes by street can be consulted on dechets.vdl.lu).
Residents are reminded that trees measuring more than two metres in height must be pruned by cutting them in the middle.
It is also possible to return Christmas trees to the recycling centre on the Route d'Arlon (open Mondays to Fridays from 07:00 to 19:15 and Saturdays from 09:00 to 16:00 (last entry 15 minutes before closing).
For any additional information, city residents are asked to contact the Hygiene Department at tel: 4796-3640.
