The Grand Ducal Police have announced that a woman driver was attacked in Lamadelaine on Saturday evening.

At around midnight, she was driving her car on the Lamadelaine roundabout when she had to slow down hard because a man was standing on the road. He forced her to stop and he got into the car and instructed her to drive to a carpark in Pétange, whereupon another man who had been following the car got in and hit the victim.

The two perpetrators then drove the car towards the Belgian border, where they abandoned the victim in a wooded area and drove away with the victim's handbag and valuables.

The victim was able to find her way to a road and was brought back by a helpful truck driver. They contacted the police who subsequently launched a manhunt which was unsuccessful.

The police have appealed for witnesses who may have useful information to come forward and contact them, in particular the truck driver. Anyone with information should call the emergency number, tel: 113, or the Differdange police station (tel: 24453-1000).
