The Grand Ducal Police carried out a total of around 310 checks across Luxembourg last week to ensure compliance with COVID-19 measures, particularly regarding the curfew, gatherings and sanitary measures in shops.
Around 150 individuals across the country received fines as part of the checks, mainly as a result of breaking curfew. For instance, nine people were fined for being out shortly before midnight on Saturday in Esch-sur-Alzette.
In eight cases, police officers issued fines in the context of private parties or the failure of cafes to comply with the applicable sanitary regulations.
The police will continue to carry out checks nationwide, including over the holidays.
As a reminder, the curfew will be extended by two hours from Saturday 26 December 2020 (21:00 - 06:00).
