Police to Make No Exceptions over Christmas, NYE re. COVID-19 Restrictions

The Grand Ducal Police have confirmed that they will be making no exceptions for Christmas and New Year's Eve regarding the COVID-19 restrictions in place.

Following the extension of the legal provisions against the spread of coronavirus until 15 January 2021, the police stressed that these restrictions also apply during the end-of-year holidays and that there will be no exceptions for Christmas and New Year's Eve.

As such, the police will continue to monitor compliance with the measures in force, focussing particularly on the following three aspects:

- compliance with the curfew (23:00 to 06:00);
- compliance with the sanitary measures during gatherings;
- compliance with regulations for shopping centres.

As part of crime prevention and general surveillance of the territory, the police will also have an increased presence in the coming days near shopping centres and pedestrian areas, in order to be able to intervene as quickly as possible if needed.

As in previous years, there will be an increased police presence the night of 31 December; officers will react to calls from the population according to their availability and priorities. The police recalled that being out in public, and thus the launching of fireworks, is prohibited after 23:00 on New Year's Eve (except in the exceptional cases provided for by law).
