Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Grand Ducal Police have reported the death of an asylum seeker following a brawl in Strassen.

According to official reports, a 38-year-old asylum seeker suffered severe injuries during a fight at the primary reception centre in Strassen on Thursday evening. After receiving first aid on site, the victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries on Friday morning.

The public prosecutor's office has been informed of the incident and an investigation has been launched.

In connection with this investigation, the Grand Ducal Police are searching for a 35-year-old male suspect, Mohamed Reda Nait Ali, who is described as being about 1.90 m tall and having a strong build. The suspect reportedly had a thick black beard and was dressed in jeans, dark brown shoes (not sports shoes), a dark hat and a medium-length dark khaki or black jacket with a fur collar at the time of the incident.

Police warned that the suspect may be armed and ready to use force.
