According to Luxembourg's Immigration Directorate, the number of people applying for international protection (asylum) in Luxembourg in November 2020 stood at 111, down from 123 the previous month and from 138 in November 2019.
A total of 117 decisions on asylum applications were taken during November 2020, with 63 applicants being granted international protection in Luxembourg and nine being refused. To date this year, 677 applicants have been granted asylum in Luxembourg.
A total of 1,020 applications for asylum have been received so far this year, compared to 1,885 at this stage last year. The largest number of applicants seeking asylum in 2020 to date came from Syria (267), followed by Eritrea (141) and Afghanistan (87).
