The Grand Ducal Police carried out a total of around 280 checks across Luxembourg last week to ensure compliance with COVID-19 measures, particularly the curfew and rules for gatherings.
Around 150 individuals across the country received fines as part of the checks, mainly as a result of breaking curfew (between 23:00 and 06:00).
In fifteen cases, violations related to either private individuals failing to respect the restrictions on private gatherings or restaurants or cafes failing to comply with the sanitary regulations. During one check in Luxembourg-Gare on Friday, two individuals received fines for drinking in a bar after curfew.
Police officers also issued fourteen fines during two traffic controls in Wiltz and Echternach on Friday. These were related to people being on the roads after curfew for no valid reason.
The police will continue to carry out checks and have recalled the following restrictions:
- A maximum of two people from the same household may meet in private with one other household;
- Curfew remains in place between 23:00 and 06:00;
- Restaurants, bars and cafes remain closed.
