According to Luxembourg's Immigration Directorate, the number of people applying for international protection (asylum) in Luxembourg in October 2020 stood at 123, down from 159 the previous month and from 209 in October 2019.

A total of 101 decisions on asylum applications were taken during October 2020, with 43 applicants being granted international protection in Luxembourg and 27 being refused. To date this year, 611 applicants have been granted asylum in Luxembourg.

A total of 909 applications for asylum have been received so far this year, compared to 1,747 at this stage last year. The largest number of applicants seeking asylum in 2020 to date came from Syria (223), followed by Eritrea (118) and Afghanistan (84).
