On Saturday 5 September 2020, His Royal Highness the Grand Duke visited Luxembourg airport to visit the COVID-19 screening centre which was set up on 29 May 2020.
The Grand Duke, accompanied by Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister, and Paulette Lenert, Minister of Health, attended a presentation by René Steinhaus, CEO of Lux-Airport, and Jean-Luc Dourson, Director of Bionext, of the systems to fight COVID-19. Since the opening of the testing centre, different screening formats have been offered to travellers entering the Grand Duchy. This strategy is promoted as an effective way to control and limit contamination, especially during this critical period of return from vacation, when the large number of travellers in transit irreparably increases the risk of the virus spreading.
At the end of the presentation, the Grand Duke set an example by submitting to a test. Aware of the importance of these tests in the fight against COVID-19, the Head of State is encouraging citizens and travellers to be tested and to continue to respect the health measures in force.
