On Wednesday evening, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Education Minister Claude Meisch held a press conference in which they announced the lifting of a series of COVID-19-related restrictions.

For his part, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel announced that more than 20 people can now legally gather outdoors, although social distancing remains in place and individuals must wear masks during events with over 20 people. Similarly, tables of maximum ten rather than four people are now authorised at restaurants.

In addition, playgrounds are authorised to reopen and children under 13 are no longer obliged to wear a mask when outdoors. Competitive sports with no physical contact can also resume.

Education Minister Claude Meisch then explained the importance of play in children's development. Hence the importance of allowing children to play together again without restrictions in school playgrounds.

Summer activities such as those organised by municipalities and organisations like guides and scouts can also resume, although hygiene measures will be discussed. Groups will be limited to 50 children accompanied by ten supervisors.
