The Grand Ducal Police have announced that, on Thursday 30 April 2020, two drug dealers were arrested in the late afternoon following a security check carried out on the site of a social facility on the Route de Thionville.

As a result of the on-site inspections, the police observed how items were exchanged and money handed over to some people. Over a period of time, several people contacted two men who were apparently undertaking illegal business on the site and seemed to be storing drugs and stolen goods in their tents. Some customers handed over electronic items or cash to the men, for which they received drugs in return.

The police patrol requested further police patrols for reinforcement and a search was ordered. During the searches undertaken in the two tents, a number of items of new electrical equipment, several heroin and cocaine balls, scales for weighing out drugs and mobile phones were discovered. Additional balls of heroin and cocaine, a larger number of mephenone pills, drug paraphernalia, cash and mobile phones were found following body searches carried out on the dealers and drug users.

The public prosecutor ordered the arrest of the two drug vendors and brought them before the examining magistrate the following morning; the judge issued an arrest warrant for the men. The drugs, cash, electrical appliances and all other items seized were confiscated.
