Yuriko Backes has been appointed the new Marshal of the Court for Luxembourg.
According to a statement released this morning by the Grand Ducal Court, His Royal Highness the Grand Duke has taken the decision, in cooperation with the Luxembourg government, to appoint Yuriko Backes to the post of Marshal of the Court. Ms Backes, who currently serves as Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg, will take office on 1 June 2020.
The Grand Duke was reportedly pleased to be able to enlist the help of an individual with extensive diplomatic experience at the highest national and international level. The statement added that Yuriko Backes' personal qualities and professional background made her an "ideal" candidate to conduct the affairs of the Grand Ducal Court.
